PC Repair Set To Take On Information Black Holes
It seems that every home has more computers than occupants; they have become an integral part of everyday living, from getting in the shopping to listening to music. So, when your computer crashes it is more than just a glitch in the day, it can throw a veritable micro spanner in the works as it were. PC repair companies are inundated with calls about the blue screen of death, slow internet connections and the presence of information black holes.
As more computers are coming on the market, being introduced into schools, shops and cafes, the job of PC repair companies is going to get greater, especially as the threat from hackers and spammers mounts. The internet, which surprisingly is now celebrating its 40th anniversary, has developed into a complex system that is not truly governed by anyone, and yet is used by everyone. This means that PC repair companies need to not just be up to date with changes in technology, but also changes in networking trends.
The internet is carried through just thirteen root name servers, but these are mirrored around the globe to safeguard against attacks from hackers that want to bring the whole system crashing down. The effect this would have on world economy would be devastating, and likely to lead to a situation comparable to a war according to some experts. Thankfully, the likelihood of this is remote, and the most severe attempt to date affected just two of the thirteen servers.
PC repair companies are more likely going to be called about something referred to as an internet black hole, which affects many home computer users. Trying to connect to sites and experiencing no activity for example could be symptom, as could losing all email contacts. These periods often last for over two hours, and encountering them could endanger a PC through infections from viruses or worms.
The presence of these information black holes have now run into millions and are responsible for the need for PC repair services for many home computers, which leads many to think that an offline computer is the only safe computer. However, our reliance on the internet is what is fuelling the demand for computers in the first place.
If we truly wanted to avoid the need for the majority of PC repairs, then we would have to deny ourselves the privileges of online entertainment, social networking, music downloads, photo sharing, online banking, and many other applications. Somehow I don't think that the demand for PC repairs is going to reduce anytime soon.
